Caring For Our Planet

We are proud to announce we were one of the first home textile suppliers within the UK to change from single-use virgin plastic to reusable and more environmentally friendly fabric bags. The fabric bags offer a reusable ‘green’ alternative and use no plastic whatsoever. Portfolio Home also has packaging in widely recyclable and reusable card gift boxes with zero plastic waste. Where plastic packaging has been unavoidable, the business made a conscious decision to move away from PVC non-recyclable single-use plastic to LDPE4 plastic packaging which is accepted in a number of UK recycling schemes. All of our plastic packaging now contains a minimum of 30% recycled content ensuring less environmental impact. Through this change in packaging, we're proud to state we've saved c. 9 tonnes of CO2e within 12 months - and that's not all, we are currently working towards reducing our use of plastic packaging across all our range of products.

Within our flexible fulfillment services, particularly Direct Dispatch (also known as drop-ship) we only use mailing bags made from 100% recycled material. Our polythene mailing bags are also widely recyclable which significantly reduces our carbon footprint. OPur choice to move away from 100% PVC ensures we've saved 4. tonnes of CO2e within a 12-month period.

The Right Materials

The primary material composition of all our products come from sources whereby we can trace the legitimacy of it's production ensuring our ethical standards are met. No use of any animal products is used in any stage of our production of home textile products nor are any harmful chemicals which greatly reduces risk to the environment.

Selected products within our collection have a natural material content such as our Pure Cotton Collection which uses responsibly sourced 100% cotton blended with quality natural linen. Every product within our range has an element of fabric which is made from natural fibres and provide consumers with many benefits. The dyes we use are also certified to be harmless and eco-friendly.

Ethically Sourced

We work closely with our global network of trusted suppliers with the aim that the materials used in the manufacturing processes are traceable, and socially and ethically sourced. Our suppliers have factories in the UK, Pakistan, China, India, Turkey, Portugal and Bangladesh. We regularly review our suppliers’ policies and practices and expect them to adhere to our high standards. All our partnered factories are visited and audited by a representative of the company prior to any business relationship.

We endeavour to ensure our products are fairly made with a priority on fair and ethical working practices. We assess our suppliers’ goods and we will only work with suppliers when they can demonstrate best practices, quality goods and work towards protecting the environment, conservation, human rights and renewable resourcing.

All suppliers are issued with and are expected to comply with Portfolio Home’s Anti-Bribery and Corruption Policy and Ethical Trading Policy. As we actively review our supply chains, we have a zero-tolerance policy on child labour, modern slavery or animal testing.

Portfolio Home is committed to ensuring our suppliers adhere to the high standards of ethics and we outline our Ethical Practice Policy.  Suppliers must demonstrate that they provide safe working conditions and that they are committed to working to the Ethical Trading Initiative Base Code and to ongoing improvements to employee working conditions.
